Domestic Certification Services
based on the Organic Standard for Tanzania

Organic standards for Tanzania have been developed by Tanzanian organic stakeholders within the framework of the IFOAM Organic Norms. The three major advantages of local organic certification are:

  • Market your products on the ever growing local organic market in the country
  • Advance towards achieving international organic certification by meeting the quality control system, documentation and the conversion period requirements.
  • Improve the organic management of your production.

For those seeking local certification services, TanCert provides:

  • organic standard for Tanzania in English and Kiswahili (A national local language).
  • organic certification application form,
  • organic certification fee Structure, and
  • organic certification operator registration form.

International certification

TanCert is working towards developing cooperation agreements with already accredited international certification organisations to enable TanCert to manage a one stop service centre in Tanzania for international organic certification.

Under such cooperation arrangements, TanCert together with international certification organisations will enable operators access not only international certification but also markets for their produces. By letting the certification arranged through TanCert, you can benefit far more from logistic coordination and a package deal with the international certification organisation than any direct individual arrangement you may make with international certifiers.

At the same time you will be contributing to the development of national certification capacity. TanCert is presently registering individuals and companies that would like to access international certification through TanCert, pending the agreements made by TanCert with one or more international certification organisations.
